À propos de ce cours
This course introduces Form 1 students to Chemistry as part of Cameroon's official first-cycle Science and Technology curriculum, following the Competency-Based Approach set out in the Ministry of Secondary Education's Chemistry Teaching Syllabus for Forms 1 and 2. At this level, Chemistry sits alongside Physics, Biology, and Technology as part of "The Sciences," building the foundation students carry into the standalone Form 3–5 Chemistry syllabus and, eventually, GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level Chemistry.
As with every first-cycle subject, the syllabus is organized into modules built around real-life situations rather than abstract theory, aiming to help learners understand the material world around them — the substances they encounter daily, how they behave, and how they change — while developing the scientific habits of observation, safe experimentation, and problem-solving that carry through the rest of their science education.
A note on this course's content: the specific module titles and topic sequence for Form 1 Chemistry are set out in the Ministry's official Chemistry Teaching Syllabus for Forms 1 and 2, which I was unable to fully verify topic-by-topic from an accessible source. To keep this course accurately aligned rather than built on assumptions, I'd recommend confirming the exact module list against the official syllabus document or a current Form 1 Chemistry textbook approved for Cameroonian schools, before finalizing the lesson-by-lesson content.
