À propos de ce cours
This course delivers Lower Sixth Chemistry content built from the official Cameroon GCE Advanced Level Chemistry Syllabus (Subject 0715), set by the Cameroon GCE Board and confirmed through its own subject reports and past examination papers. The full two-year syllabus is organized around three sections examined in Paper 1 and Paper 2 — Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry — plus a hands-on Paper 3 practical exam requiring qualitative analysis of inorganic salts and organic compounds.
As the first year of the two-year A-Level programme, this course builds the foundational Physical and Inorganic Chemistry concepts everything else depends on: atomic structure (electron configuration, isotopes, atomic and ionic radii), chemical bonding (ionic, covalent, and the shapes of molecules), chemical calculations (molarity, stoichiometry, and mole concept), and periodic trends across the periods and groups of the Periodic Table, confirmed by past exam questions on elements like those of Period 3 (sodium through argon). This foundation is what Upper Sixth later builds on toward more advanced physical chemistry (kinetics, thermodynamics, equilibrium, buffer solutions), further inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry (functional groups, isomerism, and reaction mechanisms).
The course also introduces the practical, hands-on skills the syllabus demands from the start — observation, testing, and recording results — since Paper 3 requires candidates to identify unknown inorganic and organic substances through structured qualitative tests. This course is built for Lower Sixth students starting the two-year GCE Advanced Level Chemistry programme, laying the groundwork for the GCE Advanced Level examination.
