À propos de ce cours
This course introduces Form 1 students to Geography as part of Cameroon's official first-cycle Social Sciences and Humanities curriculum, following the Competency-Based Approach used across all first-cycle subjects. Geography sits within the "Observation Sub-cycle" (Forms 1–2) alongside Citizenship Education, History, and Economics, with the stated aim of helping learners possess cultural and spatial references to better locate events in time and space, and build the foundation for the well-documented Forms 3–5 Geography syllabus (which covers the Earth in the solar system, landforms, and weather and climate).
As with every first-cycle subject, the syllabus is organized into modules built around real-life situations rather than abstract theory, aiming to help learners observe and make sense of their immediate physical and human environment — their school surroundings, community, and the basics of reading and understanding maps — before moving into the more advanced physical and human geography covered from Form 3 onward.
A note on this course's content: the specific module titles and topic sequence for Form 1 Geography are set out in the Ministry's official Geography Syllabus for Forms 1 and 2, which I was unable to fully verify topic-by-topic from an accessible source. To keep this course accurately aligned rather than built on assumptions, I'd recommend confirming the exact module list against the official syllabus document or a current Form 1 Geography textbook approved for Cameroonian schools, before finalizing the lesson-by-lesson content.
