À propos de ce cours
This course delivers Lower Sixth Biology content built from the official Cameroon GCE Advanced Level Biology Syllabus (Subject 710), set by the Cameroon GCE Board and examined across three papers: Paper 1 (multiple choice), Paper 2 (structured essay questions), and Paper 3 (practical, or alternative to practical). The full two-year syllabus develops biological understanding and scientific inquiry across ten broad topic areas: Cell Theory, Nutrition, Transport in Plants and Animals, Respiration, Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Taxonomy, Histology, Coordination, and Ecology.
As the first year of the two-year A-Level programme, this course establishes the foundational biology Lower Sixth students need before the more advanced areas of the syllabus: Cell Theory — cell structure, organelles, and the differences between plant and animal cells; Nutrition — how organisms obtain and use nutrients, including plant and human nutrition; Transport in Plants and Animals — circulatory systems, transpiration, and the movement of substances within organisms; and Respiration — the biochemical processes that release energy in living cells. These form the physiological base that later coursework builds on toward genetics, coordination, and ecology.
The course also develops the practical skills the syllabus demands from the outset — observation, identification, and basic experimentation — since Paper 3 requires candidates to demonstrate hands-on laboratory competence, including maintaining practical notebooks assessed alongside the exam itself. Mathematical skills relevant to Biology, including graphs, percentages, and probability, are woven in throughout. This course is built for Lower Sixth students starting the two-year GCE Advanced Level Biology programme, laying the groundwork for the GCE Advanced Level examination.
