À propos de ce cours
This course delivers the Upper Sixth French programme as prescribed by the Cameroon GCE Board's official Advanced Level French Syllabus (Subject 745), the sequel to the GCE Ordinary Level French course. It is designed to intensify the government's language policy of official bilingualism, biculturalism, national integration, and professionalism, and marks the end of secondary general education for students on the Anglophone subsystem.
The syllabus pushes students beyond Ordinary Level proficiency, developing linguistic and general study skills useful for personal life, further study, and professional life. The course covers the four core receptive and productive language skills the syllabus specifies: understanding spoken French, reading and understanding written French, writing French with accuracy and fluency, and interpreting and translating between Cameroon's two official languages, English and French. Alongside language skills, the course develops critical analysis of literary texts, and engages with areas of current cultural interest — including music, arts, and architecture — in line with the syllabus's aim to morally, culturally, and intellectually enrich the learner.
This course is built for Upper Sixth students preparing to sit the GCE Advanced Level French examination, consolidating the reading, writing, listening, and translation skills developed since Ordinary Level, with an emphasis on the accuracy, fluency, and critical thinking the exam requires.
