À propos de ce cours
This course delivers the complete Form 3 Chemistry programme as prescribed by Cameroon's Ministry of Secondary Education, following the official Chemistry Teaching Syllabus for Forms 3, 4 and 5. It falls under the module "Matter: Properties and Transformation," which forms the core of Chemistry study throughout the three-year Ordinary Level cycle.
Students begin by revisiting the structure of the atom — subatomic particles, isotopes, and the mole concept — before moving into how atomic structure relates to the Periodic Table, including electron configuration and valence electrons. From there, the course builds a strong understanding of chemical bonding (ionic, covalent, and metallic), crystal structures, and acid-base chemistry, including how to use indicators and classify solutions.
The second half of the course explores the Chemistry of the Elements in depth: the halogens, oxygen, sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon, and hydrogen — their preparation, properties, reactions, and everyday uses in Cameroonian society (agriculture, industry, and the home). Each topic is grounded in hands-on experimental work using simple locally available materials alongside standard laboratory equipment, in line with the syllabus's Competency-Based Approach (CBA), which connects chemistry to real-life situations.
This course is ideal for Form 3 students building the scientific foundation they'll need for Form 4 and Form 5 Chemistry, and ultimately for the GCE Ordinary Level Chemistry examination.
