Economics: Resources, Production & Distribution

This course delivers the complete Form 3 Economics programme as prescribed by Cameroon's Ministry of Secondary Education, following the official Economics Syllabus for Forms 3, 4 and 5. It is the learner's first formal introduction to Economics as a discipline within the Social Sciences area of learning.

Students begin with Economics and Resource Allocation, learning the meaning and scope of economics, core concepts like scarcity, choice, opportunity cost, and utility, the basic economic problem (what, how, and for whom to produce), and the different types of economic systems (traditional, market, planned, and mixed). The course then moves into Contribution of Resources in the Process of Production, the largest module, covering the meaning of production and wealth, the four factors of production (land, labour, capital, and entrepreneur), labour mobility and division of labour, economies and diseconomies of scale, and the foundational tools of cost and revenue analysis. Finally, students explore Enhance Proper Distribution of Goods and Services, examining channels of distribution, the roles of wholesalers and retailers, types of retail outlets, and the function of the middleman in getting goods from producer to consumer.

Throughout, the course includes hands-on practical work — graphing, calculating measures of central tendency, and working with utility and production tables — reflecting the syllabus's emphasis on applying economic reasoning to real, local situations in Cameroon. This course gives Form 3 students the analytical foundation they'll need for Form 4 (business units, population, and market interaction) and Form 5 (public finance, international trade, and national income).
