À propos de ce cours
This course delivers Lower Sixth History content built from the official History Syllabus for Secondary General Education, Lower and Upper Sixth Arts, published by Cameroon's Ministry of Secondary Education. The syllabus is explicitly designed to help learners discuss and evaluate historical concepts related to the restoration of Cameroon's own historical and cultural past, while placing that history within the wider context of universal human history and its distinctive contributions.
As the first year of the two-year A-Level programme, this course follows the syllabus's Competency-Based Approach to establish the historical foundation Upper Sixth later builds on: the pre-colonial and early contact period, the intense European scramble for Cameroon in the 1880s and German annexation, and the early years of colonial administration and its social and economic impact. Students begin developing the analytical and essay-writing skills the syllabus demands from the start — accounting for causes, analysing processes, and discussing significance — rather than simply memorising dates and names.
This course is built for Lower Sixth students starting the two-year GCE Advanced Level History programme, developing the foundational understanding of Cameroon's colonial-era history that Upper Sixth extends into the First World War's impact on Cameroon, the Mandate period, nationalism, and the path to reunification, ahead of the GCE Advanced Level examination.
