À propos de ce cours
In Cameroon's Anglophone secondary system, Literature in English becomes its own examined subject — with its own Ministry syllabus, prescribed texts, and GCE Ordinary Level exam — starting in Form 3. At Form 1 and Form 2, there is no standalone Literature syllabus; instead, reading and basic literary appreciation are developed as part of the English Language subject itself.
This course is built with that reality in mind. Rather than presenting Form 1 content as aligned to a Literature syllabus that doesn't yet exist for this level, it's designed as a reading and story-appreciation foundation course — introducing Form 1 students to stories, poems, and basic literary ideas (character, plot, setting, simple figurative language) in an engaging, low-pressure way, so that when they reach Form 3 and begin the official Literature in English syllabus, they arrive with real reading confidence and a genuine love of stories, not a blank slate.
Students will explore short stories, simple poems, and basic storytelling techniques, building comprehension, vocabulary, and the habit of thinking critically about what they read — all skills that directly support their Form 1–2 English Language studies and set them up for success when Literature in English formally begins.
Please note: this course is a reading-and-appreciation enrichment course, not aligned to an official MINESEC Literature in English syllabus, since that syllabus does not begin until Form 3.
