À propos de ce cours
This course delivers the Form 1 Mathematics programme as prescribed by Cameroon's Ministry of Secondary Education's official Mathematics Teaching Syllabus for Forms 1 and 2, part of the Science and Technology area of learning. The syllabus allocates 100 hours of annual workload (4 hours per week, coefficient 4) across three core modules.
The course begins with Numbers, Fundamental Operations, and Relationships in the Sets of Numbers (30 hours), focused on representing, determining, and identifying quantities by numbers — the arithmetic foundation every later topic depends on. It then moves into Introduction to Plane Geometry (45 hours), the largest module of the year, covering the representation and transformation of plane shapes as they appear in the student's own environment — building spatial reasoning through real, observable shapes rather than abstract exercises alone. The course closes with Solid Figures (15 hours), connecting geometry to the usage of technical objects in everyday life, helping students see three-dimensional mathematics in the world around them.
Following the Competency-Based Approach used across Cameroon's secondary curriculum, each module is built around real-life situations, so students don't just learn to calculate — they learn to apply numbers and shapes to problems they'll actually encounter. This course gives Form 1 students a strong, syllabus-aligned foundation for the Mathematics they'll continue through the rest of the first cycle, toward GCE Ordinary Level Mathematics.
